CHICAGO SMALL BUSINESS INITIATIVE
“Behavior is the highest form of communication”
The Chicago Small Business Campaign
It's been incredible to see all of the different types of people lending a hand to support their communities. When the pandemic started, we saw people delivering and donating food as well PPE equipment to hospital staff. Masks were being donated and young children were even making masks to sell for charitable proceeds. The list goes on. The unity that we have been able to accomplish in the midst of chaos should give us all hope.
Just the other day, someone said to me, “We can hope for a lot, but without structure hope is just a word." I believe that and am inspired by the action and organization of people everywhere.
So today I'm writing to say THANK YOU - to everyone who donated and supported my recent mission in some way. I’m proud to say that we’ve raised over over $10,000.
The money you donated is going to the businesses that need it most and plan to continue impacting their community. We’ve heard so many stories from entrepreneurs on our city's South Side, I was moved by their resilience, strength and positivity through it all.
One of the questions I’ve been asked repeatedly is “what organization do you work for or have?” My response is, I don't! It's just me. This initiative began with looking around me, realizing what some of the issues were and how I could help and using my platform to do just that. It's not going to solve everything, but it does help someone. If nothing else, I want to leave you inspired to look around and find one small way to make an impact right where you are with what you have. You don't need all the answers or even the vision of 'how' - just start, things will begin to shift in your favor and it will fall into place. Candice and I had to start somewhere, so can YOU.
Thank you all and stay tuned more to come!
